Guandao Yang

I am an assistant professor in the ECE department at the University of Texas at Austin and an affiliated faculty member at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. Prior to joining UT Austin, I was a Senior Research Scientist at Apple. Before that, I spent two years as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, working with Leonidas Guibas and Gordon Wetzstein. In 2023, I received my Ph.D. from Cornell Tech, advised by Serge Belongie and Bharath Hariharan. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Cornell University in 2018.

My research lies at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, and computer graphics. I’m interested in building artificial intelligence systems that can learn efficiently from limited data and be readily applied in the spatial and physical world. Outside research, I enjoy traditional rock climbing and playing classical piano.
